The Day the Music Died

Today I read a short passage called The Day the Music Died. This passage was mainly about music getting banned all throughout public schools in Mishawaka, Indiana. They banned it on school buses and on school grounds. Soon high school kids started to protest so the ban was lifted for them but it was still in place for middle school and elementary school.

REACT- The solution to the music ban was not fair to everyone because everybody didn't listen to violent music and listening to music helps most kids concentrate better.

MTV Unplugge

Today I read an article titled MTV Unplugged. This article is about a cable company called TCA wanting to ban MTV. TCA only wants to do this because they think the music video's that MTV produces are offensive. Miguel Vasquez thought this wasnt a good desicion. He was right it wasnt, just because you dont like something doesnt mean it needs to be banned.

REACT- If i didnt like what a TV channel was showing then i would just change the channel and watch something else.

The Greatest Muhammad Ali

Today I read from page 46 to half of page 47. In reading this 1 and a half page i found out that Sonny Liston was an intimidating man. He was really buff with the power to knock you out in one punch. His style of boxing was intimidation, he stared at his opponent and sometimes finished the fight before it started. The young Cassius Clay was not intimidated by the World Heavyweight Champion. Between the 1st and 3rd rounds Cassius was winning until he was temporarily blinded in the 4th and 5th rounds. In those 2 round Liston had Cassius on the ropes but didn't seem to hurt him. In the 6th round Cassius unexpectedly regained his sight and began to punish Liston. Cassius beat him so bad he could go the 7th round.

QUOTE- " If he stands and fights, I will kill him. If he runs, I'll catch him and kill him," said Sonny Liston

The Greatest Muhammad Ali

Today I read from page 38 to page 46. These 8 pages are mostly about how sports writers were beginning to distance themselves from Clay. They only did this because of his political views. Clays political views were that human nature should be with there own kind and not mixed up.

QUOTE- " I believe its human nature to be with your own kind " said Cassius Clay on page 42.
